Part 2: The Black Keys on Why They Only Have 2 Members, Getting Their 1st Record Deal

In their first interview with VladTV, The Black Keys disclosed their origin story. The pair, who are natives of Akron, Ohio, have been acquainted with each other since childhood due to living only a few houses apart. Despite being in different school grades, their brothers, who were classmates, suggested that they should collaborate on their shared interest in music. Originally, Dan played the guitar while Patrick played drums. An unexpected turn of events happened when Patrick accidentally cut off his pinky while working at a health food store, pushing him to play drums instead. Dan, having a better aptitude for guitar playing, took over the role.
