Ippei Mizuhara, Shohei Ohtani's longtime Japanese interpreter, has been fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers amid allegations of engaging in a "massive theft" of Ohtani's fortune. Ohtani's attorneys claim to have discovered the alleged stealing after Ohtani's name surfaced in a federal investigation of an alleged illegal bookmaker, Mathew Bowyer.

Mizuhara is accused of taking some of Ohtani's funds and using them to place bets with Bowyer. The Dodgers confirmed Mizuhara's termination following the claims but did not provide further comment. Mizuhara and Ohtani recently joined the Dodgers this season after Ohtani signed with them in free agency on a 10-year, $700 million deal, having previously worked together throughout Ohtani's six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels.
