In a surprising turn of events, the verdict has been reached in the 'Rust' movie set shooting case in New Mexico. Hanna Gutierrez has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the on-set shooting that tragically killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The jury deliberated for just three hours after closing arguments before reaching their verdict. Gutierrez, the set's armorer, was held responsible for the live round of ammunition that resulted in Hutchins' death. The prosecution argued that Gutierrez was negligent and careless in her duties, leading to the fatal shooting.

On the other hand, the defense pointed fingers at the production team, alleging that they prioritized profit over safety measures, contributing to the tragic accident. They claimed that Gutierrez, as the youngest and lowest-ranking member on the team, was unfairly being made the scapegoat for the incident. They also argued that others, including Gutierrez's boss and actor Alec Baldwin, should share the responsibility.

Despite the defense's arguments, the district attorney's office made a compelling case against Gutierrez, leading to her conviction. She now faces up to 18 months in jail for her role in the shooting.
