Drake’s star power recently came into question when Yasiin Bey said the Canadian rapper’s music was “compatible with shopping.” The viral commentary found Drake reacting to Bey, saying: “What umi say again? Lemme shine my light king don’t change up now 😂.” Now, Cam’Ron has made a comparison of his own related to Drake, saying he is on the same path of late pop star Michael Jackson.
While speaking to GQ, Cam’Ron talked about Drake and how the rapper showed love for his fashion sense, rocking the famous pink fur once sported by the Dipset general, while Cam and Dipset performed with him at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. “It's no different from anybody else just trying to show love. A rapper that's younger than me who grew up watching what we did. I fucking grew up wanting to get a chain because EPMD had the gold link going on, or Big Daddy Kane’s rope chain,” said Cam.
He continued saying, “When it's somebody of Drake's magnitude, you ought to show love. A lot of people want to criticize and say he’s [too] commercial. He's the modern-day Michael Jackson that can also rap. You got to realize the type of run he's on.”
