Former NFL player Michael Vick revealed that he seriously considered leaving football to join Major League Baseball in 2000 after receiving a $25,000 offer from the Colorado Rockies. Despite not having played baseball since high school, Vick was known for his speed and believed this was the reason behind his drafting. At the time, Vick was at Virginia Tech and had recently enjoyed a successful freshman season in football that included a Heisman nomination and Big East Offensive Player of the Year. Recognizing his potential, he held off from the immediate financial gain and leaned toward his future in the NFL.
