Michael Irvin is currently the subject of a criminal investigation for alleged misconduct in Texas, as confirmed by the Allen Police Department to NBC Sports. The investigation revolves around a "vague" and "unspecified" allegation. Jonathan Maness, the Public Information Officer for Allen PD, stated in an email to NBC Sports that while there is an allegation, details cannot be released at this early stage of the investigation. Irvin's attorney, Levin McCathern, vigorously denied the accusation, asserting that his client did nothing wrong or inappropriate. McCathern dismissed the allegation, claiming there is "absolutely no truth" and predicting it will prove to be unfounded.
This marks the second time within the past year that Irvin has faced misconduct accusations. In February of the previous year, he was accused of misconduct by a female employee at an Arizona Marriott while covering the Super Bowl. According to court documents, Irvin allegedly asked a hotel employee about having a "big black man inside of [her]." While this accusation did not lead to a criminal investigation, both the NFL Network and ESPN suspended Irvin from his role as a sports analyst. In response, Irvin filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against the Marriott, which was settled months after the allegations were raised.
