Security cameras captured an unexpected turn of events during a crime in Commerce City, where multiple suspects robbed a check cashing business. On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 16, three armed and masked individuals robbed the Hi Lo Check Cashing on Monaco Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Surveillance footage revealed the suspects' black car with magenta tape on a rear passenger window circling the business's parking lot before stopping.

In a twist of irony, as the suspects exited the vehicle without securing it, someone else seized the opportunity. A passerby ran across the street, hopped into the unattended car, and drove away. Identified as a woman, the car thief left the three original suspects on foot. However, law enforcement managed to apprehend two of them, both teenagers aged 14 and 15, seizing a loaded shotgun and handgun. The charges for the detained suspects are yet to be determined, and information about the third suspect from the armed robbery has not been disclosed.

The stolen getaway car, believed to be a previously stolen Kia, remains a subject of investigation. The woman who took the vehicle is facing motor vehicle theft charges. The incident presents a peculiar and unexpected twist in the course of the criminal activity.
