Pete Rose discussed his historic career, his relationship with journalist Jim Gray, and his post-game earnings. Rose criticized Gray for lying to him before an all-century team game. Rose said that Gray had promised his interview would not focus on the negative, but instead questioned him directly about his gambling issues. Rose also discussed the financial realities of his career, stating that he’s never been a multimillionaire because he didn't earn the same sums current players do. The baseball icon also touched on the subject of his 2004 book, in which he admitted to betting on games. However, Rose doesn’t recall the motivation behind writing it. He also denied remembering certain specified events, such as a defamation lawsuit filed in 2016 and the apology issued during a 2010 team roast.
