Kanye West's latest project, the joint album Vultures with Ty Dolla Sign, may be facing a significant obstacle prior to its release.
Recently, Ye shared a preview of a song from Vultures, featuring him walking towards a balcony overlooking Miami while a snippet of a song playing in the background samples the Backstreet Boys' 1997 hit "Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)." However, sources connected to the Backstreet Boys have informed TMZ that Kanye did not seek permission from the band or their team to sample the song.
The lack of clearance for "Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)" poses a challenge for Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign. The rumored release of Vultures, expected this week, includes "Everybody" on the shared tracklist on social media. The song was also featured during a livestream "rave" event in Miami on Monday night, attended by special guests such as Offset, Freddie Gibbs, Lil Durk, Kodak Black, Chris Brown, and North West.
The inclusion of "Everybody" in the final release of Vultures remains uncertain, and Complex has reached out to a representative for Kanye West for further comment.
