An undercover sting operation called Operation Chainline has led to the indictment of three suspects involved in an alleged gun trafficking ring. The investigation, led by the Queens District Attorney's office and the NYPD, has successfully taken more than 100 illegal firearms off the streets. This significant bust showcases the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies working together to combat the illegal sale and distribution of guns. Authorities in Queens held a press conference to display the firearms collected as evidence during the undercover operation.

These deadly weapons were all traced back to the three defendants in custody. Tips received by both the Queens District Attorney's office and the NYPD in March alerted them to the trafficking of illegal guns into New York City from the Midwest, via the Iron Pipeline. Detectives witnessed two of the defendants carrying large boxes from a townhouse in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a U-Haul truck, closely corresponding with subsequent phone calls discussing the transportation of these guns. The suspects later sold firearms to an undercover officer at a location in Queens on multiple occasions between June and August. This crucial evidence led to the discovery and confiscation of 109 illegal firearms and rifles, including assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The defendants, identified as cousins ranging in age between 27 and 32, are facing multiple firearms-related charges. If convicted, they could receive up to 25 years in prison. The severity of these potential penalties serves as a deterrent for others involved in similar illegal activities.
