A jury has been selected in the ongoing YSL (Young Slime Life) trial involving rapper Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams. The trial, which faced numerous delays, finally saw the seating of 12 jurors and six alternates after a selection process that lasted approximately four hours. Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville swore in the jurors and read them the charges before dismissing them until the trial's start.

Young Thug and six other defendants are accused of operating a street gang known as YSL, allegedly responsible for various violent crimes, including murder. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asserts Williams played a significant role in the gang's criminal activities, while the rapper maintains his innocence. Jury selection was expedited this week due to concerns about a speedy trial, as attorneys worried about their clients receiving a fair and timely legal process. Young Thug has been in jail since May of the previous year and faces multiple charges under Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, including counts related to conspiracy, criminal street gang activity, murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and drug offenses.

The trial is set to commence on November 27, with a hearing scheduled for November 8 to determine the admissibility of the rapper's lyrics as evidence in the case. The demographic breakdown of the selected jury includes 10 Black females, 2 white females, 3 Black males, and 3 white males.
