The City Girls dropped their latest album, "RAW," an acronym for "Real A** Wh*res," on Friday (October 20), and they are reportedly expected to sell 6,000 to 8,000 copies in the first week.
This led to a discussion online about hip-hop album sales, which have seen a shift for the year, as we went more than half the year without a hip-hop album topping the charts. Lil Uzi Vert's Pink Tape is the first rap album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2023.
Uzi's album sold 167,000 units in its first week, which was later outdone by Travis Scott's Utopia, which sold 496,000 units. In comparison, Drake's highly-anticipated For All the Dogs debuted with 402,000 first-week units.
