Ja Morant has come to the defense of his father, Tee Morant, after someone within the Grizzlies organization criticized him. On Wednesday, ESPN published a detailed story highlighting the concerning behavior displayed by the Grizzlies' star player over the last 18 months. One section of the article placed some blame on Ja Morant's father.

According to the story, Tee Morant has embraced the perks of fame since his son was drafted second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. He has been seen hosting VIP parties at nightclubs, appearing on camera during games, and even getting into confrontations with prominent figures like Shannon Sharpe at a Lakers game and Pacers players during a separate game.

After Ja Morant returned from an NBA suspension, which was a result of various issues, including an incident where he displayed a gun at a strip club on a live stream in March, Tee Morant wore a shirt with his son's photo on it that read "Redemption." A Grizzlies source stated, "Tee has been a major driving force in all of this. He never made the NBA, but this was his chance to live like he's an NBA superstar. That's been a problem from the beginning."

In response to the accusations in the article, Ja Morant took to his Instagram story. He shared a photo of himself and his father with the caption, "Keep LIVIN the dream OG. This hoopin shii started with you, I just continued it." Additionally, he wrote, "storm don't phase us. too much umbrellas TM x MBNO x 🐻," with TM presumably referring to Tee Morant and MBNO standing for "My Brothers No Others," the name he uses for his inner circle and his childhood friend Davonte Pack's clothing brand.
