Early on Monday morning, four detainees, including one charged with murder, escaped from a central Georgia jail. The escapees were identified as Joey Fournier, Marc Kerry Anderson, Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, and Chavis Demaryo Stokes. The jail staff noticed a break in the perimeter fence around 6 a.m., and surveillance footage revealed that the men had escaped through a window in a second-floor dayroom and then cut the fence at approximately 3:30 a.m. A blue Dodge Challenger, seen tampering with the fence, was believed to have been used in their escape. Authorities are conducting an extensive search, urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

The escapees were described as follows: Fournier, 52, a white male with gray hair and blue eyes, charged with murder; Anderson, 24, a Black male with dreadlocks; Barnwell, 37, a Black male with braids; Stokes, 29, a Black male with short black hair. The escape occurred due to a break in the aging facility's perimeter fence, compounded by understaffing and deteriorating infrastructure. An internal investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the escape.
