On Saturday night, boxing fans were treated to yet another dominant performance by Canelo Álvarez (60-2), who successfully defended his WBA Super Middleweight titles for the third time in a row with a unanimous decision over Jermell Charlo (35-2). A result that caused some pundits to call for a super fight between Canelo and Terence "Bud" Crawford (40-0) because although they are in two separate weight classes, they currently rank #1 and #2 amongst the top active professional boxers on the planet. Another show-stopping performance of the night came when Floyd Mayweather's 17-year-old protégé, Curmel Moton (1-0), knocked out his opponent Ezequiel Flores (4-1), in the first round of his professional boxing debut.
With so much attention being focused on Canelo and Bud's trajectory towards being crowed the GOAT of professional boxing and Curmel Moton's potential to become the next face of the sport, Floyd Mayweather (50-0) got a little irritated when a reporter indicated an argument could be made that he isn't the undisputed GOAT of boxing. The verbal exchange came during Curmel Moton's press conference when a reporter asked a question while mentioning Floyd--who was standing off to the side of the podium. In response, Floyd didn't hesitate to walk over to the podium while taking the journalist on a trip down memory lane about his historic statistics, such as the number of world champions he beat. After all, he did defeat all-time greats like Canelo and Manny Pacquiao (72-8), even if they weren't in their prime when the bouts occurred.
