Although Sharks are notorious sea predators that have struck fear in the minds of humans for centuries, their cousins, Stingrays, are just as dangerous. It was a Stingray that killed the famous "Crocodile Hunter" from Australia, Steve Irwin, in September of 2006 by piercing his chest with its deadly stinger. Typically, Stingrays will run away from a threat rather than deploy the venomous tail spines primarily reserved for predators like Orcas and Sharks. But, when a massive fever of stingrays assembled off the coast of Anna Maria Island, Florida, they frantically scattered without putting up much of a fight.
