Tyrese previously sued Home Depot after a situation he experienced at the company’s store with employees. The actor went back-and-forth with employees in a tense exchange.
Footage of the incident surfaced, and in his suit Tyrese claims two associates tried to buy items with his credit card to no avail. After that, the actor came into the store where the heated exchange happened, leading to the purchase being completed. The suit finds Tyrese saying employees refused to make the sale because they were suspicious of his two associates’ and the color of their skin.
Home Depot has reacted, saying the actor brought various items to a cashier and all the items were scanned. They then said Tyrese went back to shopping and left the register backed up for 25 minutes, which caused an employee to close off his transaction.
Tyrese reacted to the claims from Home Depot, saying: “Eric Mora, Manuel Hernandez, and I are 100% committed to taking a stand against The Home Depot in defense of our own civil rights and the civil rights of all who have been subjected to discriminatory practices and consumer racial profiling. The Home Depot and its team of attorneys seek to deny our claims, gaslighting. Trying to legally bully us and silence our voices as reflected in their most recent court filing.”
