A violent Bronx gang known for armed robberies, vicious assaults, and broad daylight shootings with rival gangs has been targeted in an overnight takedown by the NYPD. Fox 5 New York was given exclusive access to the investigation and the subsequent arrests.

For over two years, hardworking day laborers, livery drivers, and retirees in the Bronx have been victimized by this violent gang, who specifically targeted them for their cash and credit cards. They also engaged in shootings with rival gangs in broad daylight. The NYPD hopes that this takedown will bring justice to the victims.

The alleged gang leader, Abdullah Zika, and other alleged accomplices were taken out of the 50th Precinct in the Bronx to face multiple felony charges ranging from armed robberies to attempted murder. The NYPD's Gun Violence Suppression Division, along with many local precinct detective squads, gathered at an undisclosed location in the Bronx to be briefed on the case.

Police officials describe the gang's actions as brazen, noting that they carried out their crimes repeatedly and with no regard for the safety of innocent bystanders. The gang members are charged with numerous shootings, including one murder, as well as attempted murders.

The gang, known as the Fives Lees, consists of 12 members aged between 16 and 21, who are primarily located on 175th Street in the Bronx. Surveillance videos have captured some of their ruthless actions, including opening fire on a Bronx street while a mother ducks and protects her two children.

The gang's reckless shootouts with rival gangs are fueled by disses and drill rap videos, according to Chief Jason Savino. While the police are not against the music itself, they draw the line when it incites violence and mocks homicide victims.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark has announced a 110-count indictment against the gang members for heinous crimes, including attempted murder, assault, and weapons possession.

Despite not all 12 gang members being in custody, the police are confident they have enough evidence to make their case thanks to their advanced precision policing techniques.
