While much of the media attention regarding brazen robbery attempts in California has focused primarily on incidents in Los Angeles County, the Bay Area has been no slouch in that department either. On Saturday alone, 49 cars were reported stolen in Oakland. Days later, a group of construction workers nearly became another statistic in the growing list of victims when perpetrators approached them in a vehicle, including a criminal with an Uzi in his hand. However, the construction workers quickly turned the tables by weaponizing their tools and going on the attack. Ultimatley, the perpetrators had no choice but to retreat. They were so startled by the encounter that one of the gunmen accidentally dropped his Uzi before leaving it behind during the frantic escape.
