On Tuesday (September 19), YouTube announced that they were suspending monetization on Russell Brand's YouTube page amid allegations of sexual assault. Brand has 6.61 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel and he has denied the allegations.

A spokesperson for YouTube stated that the "serious allegations against the creator" are a violation of its "Creator Responsibility policy." The spokesperson added, "If a creator's off-platform behavior harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we take action."

YouTube creators and influencers David Dobrik and James Charles previously had their channels demonetized in light of allegations against them.

So far, four women have alleged misconduct by Brand in a joint investigation by the U.K.’s Channel 4 and the Sunday Times newspaper. Brand is facing allegations of rape, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse by the women. Brand addressed the allegations, stating, "The relationships that I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I’m being transparent about it now."
