The arrest of a Palmdale man has brought some closure to the tragic shooting death of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer. Kevin Salazar, 29, was taken into custody after a standoff that lasted several hours. Salazar reportedly confessed to the murder, but the motive remains unknown. Salazar's family claims he suffers from mental illness.

The capture was captured on camera, with SWAT officers deploying tear gas to force Salazar to surrender outside his Palmdale home. Terrified neighbors had to be evacuated during the chaos. LA County Sheriff Robert Luna praised the community for their help in making the arrest, as tips from the public led authorities to Salazar's vehicle.

The shooting occurred in front of the Palmdale Sheriff's Station when Salazar ambushed Deputy Clinkunbroomer, who was a third-generation, eight-year veteran of the department. Numerous firearms were recovered from Salazar's home.

As the community mourns the loss of Deputy Clinkunbroomer, memorial services are still pending. Meanwhile, Salazar is expected to make his first court appearance soon.
