A Florida high school player is facing criminal charges after a brutal attack on an opposing player during the game.
The incident happened during a game between Florida Panhandle schools Marianna and Blountstown. The grainy video posted on X (formerly Twitter) shows Blountstown’s Gavin Lambeth grab the helmet of Marianna’s Ethan Lipford which he eventually forcibly removed and used to beat Lipford.
Following the attack, reports say Lipford experienced multiple concussion-like symptoms including slurred speech and trouble walking. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Neuro Center.
Lambeth reportedly appeared before a judge on Wednesday “who ordered him to a juvenile facility while authorities and the State Attorney’s Office investigated the case.”
