On Saturday night, Dylan Reischman (21) made his MMA debut against Jamie Mora. Combat Global scheduled the bout as an undercard matchup leading up to the main event featuring Jose Ferreira vs. Leonardo Morales. Shortly after round two got underway, Mora pressed Reischman against the cage before getting behind him and attempting a takedown. From there, Reishman landed awkwardly on his side, causing a grotesque leg break where his bone nearly poked out of his skin. The incident has since gone viral, with one Twitter user referring to the injury as "The worst leg break in combat history."
Although his first fight ended in a horrific fashion, Reischman took to social media to shortly after the incident began to make its rounds to thank MMA fans for their support while also hinting at a possible return to action.
“Thank you everybody for all the support and prayers it seriously means the world and has already made this adjustment a lot easier,” he wrote on Instagram. “My surgery went great, I’m going to be mobile on crutches tomorrow and I can start training again in 4 months which was honestly a lot sooner than expected."
He followed the message with a separate post detailing his injury, while also thanking his coaches, supporters, and opponent from Saturday night, Jamie Mora. (You can read that post here).
