According to reports, police in Pennsylvania listed rapper Lil Uzi Vert as the suspect in the kidnapping of a dog.
The rapper’s photo was put in a post from the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department, which noted a puppy was taken from a pet store—Brookside Pups. However, Uzi did not actually take the puppy, as police wrongly named the superstar rapper.
The police have since removed the post alleging that the rapper took the puppy, replacing the photo with the actual suspect of the crime. Police have since blamed Brookside Pups for giving them the image of Uzi.
Roc Nation issued a statement on the matter, saying, “The Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department should be embarrassed and ashamed for disparaging [Uzi's] character. This grave error could’ve had significant repercussions on Uzi’s career and epitomizes how Black men can be wrongfully charged and arrested by police departments across the country.”
