In a recent classroom observation, a teacher's behavior was concerning enough that an officer was called in to investigate. The teacher, Kimberly Coates, 53, admits to taking medication for anxiety, but cannot remember the name of the medication. When asked about drinking or taking any medication at school, the teacher denies it, but later admits to taking medication and drinking alcohol earlier in the day.
The officer conducts a breathalyzer test and finds that the teacher is well above the legal limit. The student's demeanor and actions indicate that they may be a functioning alcoholic. The officer contacts the Coates's husband to arrange for a ride, but the teacher is worried about losing their job. Ultimately, the Coates is given the option to have someone pick them up or face arrest. After some hesitation, Coates agrees to call their husband.
