Antonio "AJ" Armstrong Jr., the son of former NFL linebacker Antonio Armstrong, was convicted of capital murder on Wednesday (August 16) for shooting his parents in 2016.

After two days of deliberating, the jury came back with a guilty verdict for 23-year-old AJ, who was sentenced to life with parole. While the defense portrayed AJ's brother Josh as an "alternate suspect," DNA evidence linked AJ to the crime.

AJ maintained his innocence since becoming a suspect after the murders, including in a 20/20 interview in January, where he stated, "I was in complete shock. It was a mix of shock, it was a mix of anger, it was a lot of different things — like, why me? There's no way possible. I couldn't even fathom the idea of killing my parents."
