Villagers in Alto Nany (located in the Maynas Province of Peru) claim that they recently witnessed an attack at the hands of mystic creatures known by locals as Pelacaras (face eaters). According to reports, the indigenous Ikitu peoples who encountered the beings indicated that their attackers were extraterrestrials standing 7 feet tall with hooded tops and silver amour, rendering their weaponry ineffective. The tribe alleged that their village has been under attack, on and off, since the second week of July. One of the children even managed to capture a photo of the attackers. While some may have dismissed the string of incidents in the Amazon jungle as an embellishment, a teenage girl was kidnapped by one of the hooded attackers.
The story about giant, face-eating aliens made international headlines before prompting the Peruvian government to get involved. Government officials from Peru shot down the villagers' claims, stating that illegal gold miners were responsible for the attacks, not Pelacaras.
