She has since become a Golden Globe-nominated actress and an advocate for more representation of Latino actors/actresses in Hollywood. The 48-year-old recently made her directorial debut with the release of the criticism-acclaimed film Flamin Hot,' a project that is now Searchlight's most-watched movie of all time.
