California is in the midst of making it illegal for employees to confront shoplifters. The Senate just approved legislation in an effort to prevent violence. However, if a bystander happens to be around during a robbery and he/she feels like mixing it up with the criminals involved, there is no such law preventing them from doing so. A group of robbers found out the hard way when a fed-up citizen saw them rushing out of a store in Downey with their shopping baskets, filled all the way up. Although most of the criminals got away, he managed to snatch one of them up before she slapped him in the face and he knocked the stolen items out of her hands.
