A funeral was held on Monday (July 24) for Devin Spadey, the son of Gillie Da King, after he was fatally shot last week.

The funeral was held at The Met in North Philadelphia, where hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects. Some of the loved ones also used the tragic incident to highlight the urgent need to stop gun violence.

George Macon, a family friend, told CBS Philadelphia, "[Gillie] always promoted a positive image and always talked about putting the guns down. So it's unfortunate that his son had to meet his demise this way."

Imam Tahir Wyatt also spoke to attendees about gun violence, stating, "All of us know somebody, all of us know people who are this far away from revenge. From an endless cycle. But we have to be the ones to step up and be courageous."
