In America, the quality of prison food has remained a long-discussed topic over the years. Several eyewitnesses have told prison stories about mold, maggots, and other insects being found in their food while behind bars. Former inmates also have detailed instances where their food was overprocessed and rotten. These are just some examples of the poor food conditions that millions of prisoners are subjected to on a daily bases. In 2017, the American Journal of Public Health published a report indicating that prisoners were dying at an alarming rate due to their intake of poor-quality food. However, in many U.S. states, such as California, inmates can receive care packages with food from the outside.
Footage recently surfaced of an inmate displaying his all-you-can-eat food display upon delivery from 'Outback' has gone viral. The clip shows the inmate savoring the moment as he shows off his food choices, which include hamburgers, fries, chicken, and desserts.
