According to studies, there are over 1,006,555 registered firearms in Texas, making the  "Lone Star State" America's top region for the sheer amount of legal guns. Hence, when a gun-wielding robber attempts a heist, it is not uncommon for the victim(s) to return fire. On Tuesday, a Houston couple got into a wild shootout at a gas station with a pair of robbers who made the costly mistake of underestimating the probability that their would-be victims could also be armed. In that instance, the suspects lost.

A clip recently went viral of another Texas gunman trying his hand at a brazen robbery attempt. This time around, the gunman chose a pregnant woman and her male associate as his targets, but after he approached them, the pregnant woman quickly drew her gun, causing the perpetrator to retreat before he tripped and dropped his firearm in the parking lot, rendering him helpless. In an ironic twist of fate, the perpetrator ended up on the ground seconds after his robbery attempt, pleading for his life with his hand in the air.
