Some studies suggest that if a lion attacks a human, there is a 65% chance that the incident will result in a fatality. Once the attack is in full swing, it's best not to run, as the large muscular cats can sense fear. Zoologists say you should strike a lion in the head if such an occasion arises. That is much easier said than done, so to avoid the horrific experience all together, it's best never to approach them or turn your back on them. A video recently went viral of a tourist getting mauled by a lion after trying to take advantage of a photo op. Consequently, for the victim, he wandered too close to the cage, creating an opportune moment for the lion instead.
The footage depicts the lion casually chewing on the victim's foot amid his desperate screams. Meanwhile, as bystanders tried to intervene by hitting the lion with sticks, it looked reasonably unfazed. The tourist's life didn't appear in immediate danger as the video ended before the bystanders pulled his upper body away from the cage. However, his foot remained in conflict.
