According to TMZ, the mass shooting which occurred following the Denver Nuggets closeout victory over the Miami Heat to secure the franchise's first NBA title was due to a drug deal gone bad.
Denver chief of police Ron Thomas said investigators found cash, firearms, and what they believe to be fentanyl at the scene of the shooting. The signs point to the busted drug deal and police say they already have two men in custody though their exact involvement isn't immediately clear at the moment.
Of the 10 people which sustained gunshot wounds, five to six of those victims were considered to be innocent bystanders though none of the 10 victims sustained any life-threatening injuries.

Ten people, including an alleged suspect, were wounded during a shooting in Denver while a crowd was celebrating the Nuggets winning their first NBA championship. Three of the people were critically injured, which was confirmed by the Denver Police Department. The suspect, an unnamed male, was one of the seven people with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police haven't released a lot of information surrounding the shooting, but it is believed that the incident started with an altercation that led to gunfire. Denver police spokesperson Doug Schepman explained, "As far as what led up to this altercation that resulted in the shots being fired, that’s still under investigation at this time. It did occur in the area where we had the largest gathering of folks celebrating during the night."
