LeBron James and his career trajectory have been compared to the greats in the NBA, including Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and more. James has won championships with numerous teams and participated in several All-Star games. However, the one event he hasn’t set foot in is the NBA Dunk Contest. Now, James has revealed why he’s passed on the competition.

The Lakers star player talked about why he’s passed on the dunk contest while speaking to Bally Sports, saying, “I don’t think it was something I wanted to accomplish in my career; it’s not a goal of mine, and it never was coming into the NBA to be a part of the Dunk Contest, you know?”

James continued saying, “Making the NBA All-Star Team was, being the league MVP, winning Defensive Player of the Year, winning NBA Championships…? THOSE were some goals of mine. The NBA Dunk Contest was NEVER a goal of mine, so it wasn’t something that I had too much passion for.” Look at the full quote above.
