Bobby Shmurda recently appeared on ‘The Danza Project’ podcast and spoke about rap music, saying he doesn’t listen to the genre like that anymore. Bobby called out current rappers as a whole, saying, “These kids are following you guys, and you’re rapping about these f**king lifestyles…and it’s very dangerous to the communities 'cuz these little kids think that [it’s] going on, and you did not even live it.” Bobby then said rap is supposed to be about going from negative to positive before noting he doesn’t listen to rap anymore unless he’s at the club. Now, Charlamagne Tha God has reacted to Shmurda’s commentary on the genre.
While on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Karlous Miller talked about what Bobby said, with Miller immediately saying, “This the same dude who said he’s been selling crack since like the 5th grade.”
From there, Charlamagne noted Bobby should ease up on criticizing rap, saying: “I don’t think he should insult rap because we wouldn’t know Bobby Shmurda if it wasn’t for rap.”
The host continued saying, “Rap is the reason why we know Bobby Shmurda, and I love Bobby Shmurda’s energy and his personality, but I feel like the public isn’t really receptive to his new music. They haven’t really been rocking with his new music since he’s been released from prison.”
Charlamagne then spoke about Bobby not snitching when offered less time behind bars, saying the idea was stand-up. However, he pointed out that the culture does not reward people for being stand-up, especially with the rising number of rappers-turned-informants within Hip-Hop. Watch above.
