Earlier this month, two South Carolina deputies engaged in a shootout with a passenger after pulling over a black Ford on the highway. Dashcam footage from the wildly unpredictable incident is trending largley because the situation quickly escalated in front of a female driver who did not appear to have any involvement in the dispute after she hopped out of the car and screamed in horror.
The footage depicts law enforcement searching the vehicle before the perpetrator emerged with his gun fully drawn, causing the deputies to retreat. From there, the perpetrator discharged his weapon from close range, prompting the deputies to duck for cover and return fire. One of the deputies on the scene accessed the driver's side of the parked vehicle before opening the door and firing on the assailant until he died on the pavement. During this incident, a member of law enforcement sustained three bullet wounds but is expected to recover fully.
