According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Cash App founder Bob Lee was having an affair with Khazar Momeni, the married sister of Nima Momeni, the man who is accused of fatally stabbing Lee. Sources say that Lee and Khazar were part of an underground party circle known as the "The Lifestyle," which is known for recreational drug use and casual sex.
Court documents obtained by the WSJ show that Nima confronted Lee about the affair with his sister prior to the stabbing. On the night of the incident, Nima came to pick up his sister at a party she was at with Lee, which is when the confrontation took place. Nima also asked Lee if Khazar "was doing drugs [or] anything inappropriate" before arguing with Lee. Witnesses say that Lee assured Nima that his sister hadn't taken drugs or done anything inappropriate.
Nima and Lee later arrived separately at Khazar's apartment, and the two men then left the apartment together around 2:04 am in Nima's white BMW Z4. Khazar texted Lee around the time of the stabbing incident, which read, "Just wanted to make sure your doing ok Cause [I] know nima came wayyyyyy down hard on you. Thank you for being such a classy man handling it with class. Love you Selfish pricks."
Prosecutors allege that Nima drove Lee to a "dark and secluded" San Francisco street corner and stabbed him in a "planned and deliberate attack."
Khazar's attorneys Mary McNamara and Ed Swanson released a statement on behalf of their client:
"There are many rumors circulating around this case, many of them untrue. Ms. Momeni loves and supports her brother," the statement said. "What happened here is a tragedy, and Ms. Momeni is deeply saddened at the suffering of the Lee family as they deal with their terrible loss."
