Dillon Brooks’ words during the NBA playoff series against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers may have seemingly come back to bite him, as reports surfaced noting the pending unrestricted free agent won’t “be brought back under any circumstances.”

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported the news on Tuesday, and team officials told the player during exit meetings, with both parties allegedly saying they wanted a “fresh start.”

According to Charania, the Grizzlies' issues with Brooks peaked when Brooks called LeBron James “old” and said, “I poke bears. I don't respect no one until they come and give me 40 [points].” Brooks’s refusal to speak with the press after the Grizzlies’ playoff losses, resulting in a $25,000 fine, may have fueled the fire

Brooks’ antics within the season seemingly played a part, as he was previously seen shoving a cameraman to the ground during a game, resulting in a $35,000 fine.
