Last October, an unnamed floor manager and a customer named Karen Ivery got into a heated verbal altercation at a Target store located in Blue Ash, Ohio, when the latter demanded the company to pay for her $1,000 grocery bill with slavery reparations. At some point during the encounter, a security guard in the store named Zach Cotter attempted to de-escalate the situation by asking Karen Ivery to vacate the premise without the items. According to reports, the occurrence culminated when Karen allegedly charged at Zach, prompting him to back up into the manager's office, and when she would not relent, he struck her in the face so hard that she fell to the ground. The incident was captured on camera, and the aforementioned details were confirmed by the police, who determined that Zach's punch was a justifiable act of self-defense after being provoked.
Ultimatley, Karen was arrested for disorderly conduct and fined $110. She was released after one day behind bars. Upon being apprehended by law enforcement, Karen compared her objective to the famous Rosa Parks boycott of 1955, stating, "This is my Rosa Parks moment."
