According to reports, TikTok has been banned by the State University System of Florida Board of Governors “due to the continued and increasing landscape of cyber threats.” The board also banned other applications, software, and developers related to the brand.

A memo was sent to state university system presidents this past week. Chancellor Ray Rodrigues said, “This regulation requires institutions to remove technologies published in the State University System (SUS) Prohibited Technologies List from any university-owned device and to block network traffic associated with these technologies.” The memo noted the ban is effective immediately. The Florida Board of Governors also banned WeChat, Tencent, Kaspersky, VKontakte, and other affiliates.
