Part 1: Young Chris on Dropping Out in 11th Grade: Roc-A-Fella Was My High School Years

In this clip, Shawn Prez started off asking Young Chris about meeting his Young Gunz group mate Neef Buck, and Chris explained that they met in middle school. Young Chris then revealed that it was Neef Buck that got him to start rapping when they were kids, which led to Chris detailing writing his first song. From there, Young Chris spoke about Beanie Sigel making noise in Philly, but he clarified that he didn’t know him until he signed with Roc-A-Fella. Moving along, Young Chris recalled being around Beanie Sigel during the developmental period of his rap career, during the time he signed with Roc-A-Fella Records, and what his ascension meant to the city of Philadelphia. From there, he explains how the formation of State Property stemmed from an idea by Dame Dash. Moving along, Young Chris talks about meeting Jay-Z for the first time and the bidding war that ensued between Roc-A-Fella Records, Bad Boy, and Chris Lighty to sign his rap group.
