Clips of DJ Quik's sit-down with the "All the Smoke" podcast have been making the rounds online, including him speaking about his run-ins with Michael Jackson.
DJ Quik revealed that the first time he was around Michael is when he was recording his 1991 single, "Tonite." He explained that they were at Westlake Studios, where Michael famously recorded "Thriller," and DJ Quik revealed that there was an odd request from Jackson's team when he entered the building.
"They came through, warned everybody that Michael was finna come through, and he didn’t want nobody to see him coming through or looking, right? We taking a break from the studio, and these guys come in, and they was like, ‘We about to bring somebody through here, can you turn and face the wall?'"
DJ Quik explained that he didn't know if they were being serious, but they complied and faced the wall in order to not look at Jackson. He added, 'It’s like damn, Mike didn’t want anyone to look at him, the f*** is this?"
DJ Quik then went on to detail another encounter with Michael in the studio, where he was "less timid," and he joked, "He didn’t wanna f*** with me, he thought I was a Blood. Michael’s [a] Crip."
