Update 03/11/2023 11:28am:

Recently, Hit-Boy dropped the track “Slipping Into Darkness” featuring The Alchemist, which found the two producers delivering verses over each other’s production. Hit-Boy has gone viral for the track as he delivered a verse calling out his producer peers like Metro Boomin, Southside, and Hitmaka, who previously spoke on Hit-Boy saying, “See, but I’m on the radio; Hit-Boy’s not on the radio” during an interview on Hot 97.

The two have exchanged words since then, with Hitmaka calling Hit-Boy “a terrible artist.” Now, Hit-Boy has responded to Hitmaka again, this time with a hilarious photo attached.

Hit-Boy took to Instagram to post a picture of his head on Muhammad Ali’s body while Hitmaka’s head was on the body of his opponent laid out in the ring. Via his caption, Hit-Boy said, “I only meant to diss 1 person on slipping into darkness.” In the comments, Hit-Boy said, “I got respect for mustard metro and southside.” Take a look above.

Update 03/10/2023 2:09am:

Tensions are flaring between Hit-Boy and Hitmaka after a snippet from Hit-Boy was shared where he called out Hitmaka among other producers.

Not long after the snippet was posted, Hitmaka made his way into the comments to offer up his opinion on the matter.

“This is nasty and punchlines from over a decade ago,” he wrote. “Still won’t be on radio I expect more from u king.”

Hitmaka followed up his comment with, “Is this your like attempt to do whatever Kendrick did on that big Sean record for producers???” adding, “U ARE A TERRIBLE ARTIST. SEND ME BEATS PLS.”

Music fans often confuse the likes of Hit-Boy with Hitmaka because the two super-producers have similar aliases, they're around the same age, and the apex of their catalogs spans the same era in hip-hop. In an effort to distinguish himself from his California counterpart, Hitmaka recently went public with overtly honest commentary about why he believes he's had the more impressive career thus far. The Chicago native shared his thoughts on the comparisons during an interview with Hot 97 this week. He doubled down on his viewpoint when a TMZ camera operator caught up with him on Thursday.

Yesterday, hip-hop podcaster Rory Farrell uploaded footage of Hit-Boy addressing Hitmaka in a snippet from a rap verse where he uses wordplay to assert his dominance as a songwriter by giving vivid examples of why his legacy in the game reigns supreme over his peers. Not only does Hit-Boy mention Hitmaka, but he also drops some other big names such as Metro Boomin, Southside, and DJ Mustard.
