The Scott Adams controversy has sparked much conversation about free speech when it comes to issues of race and what constitutes something or someone as racist. In response to the current developments in the Adams story, Twitter owner Elon Musk shared his thoughts on the matter, specifically the unfounded claim that now the media is now racist toward whites and Asians.

"The media is racist," Musk tweeted in response to Monitoring Bias's tweet-breakdown of the Adams situation. He followed up by writing, "For a *very* long time, US media was racist against non-white people, now they’re racist against whites & Asians. Same thing happened with elite colleges & high schools in America. Maybe they can try not being racist."

While issues around identity have become heightened and the sensitivity with which the media, corporations, and universities treat these issues has come with more severe consequences, it hasn't fundamentally altered power relations which would seem to undermine Musk's point.
