According to reports, a Texas father finds himself convicted of capital murder in connection to the fatal shooting of three teenagers by his then 14-year-old son.

Richard Acosta, 34, was convicted last week of capital murder for the 2021 shooting deaths of Xavier Gonzalez, 14; Ivan Noyala, 16; and Rafael Garcia, 17.

Acosta told the court that he had no idea his son shot anyone the day of the incident. He claimed his son, Abel Acosta, jumped in the car and told him to drive away because someone was shooting. The teen subsequently disappeared and remains at large.

Prosecutors argued that Acosta attempted to dispose of evidence and tried moving his family out of the Garland, TX area. He surrendered to police days after the shooting and was indicted nearly one year ago.
