According to reports, the United States military reportedly shot down an alleged Chinese spy balloon located off the Carolina coast on Saturday afternoon.
The move came after the Federal Aviation Administration paused departures and arrivals to “three East coast airports” to support the Department of Defense. AP noted that the airports put on hold were Charleston, South Carolina, Myrtle Beach, and Wilmington, North Carolina.
President Biden spoke on the balloon, saying, “They successfully took it down and I want to complement our aviators who did it.” The balloon was shot down by fighter jets, and the balloon is believed to be from Beijing. Stay tuned for more updates.
