On Thursday, a video clip of a Witchita-based FedEx driver went viral after a racist tirade, and she has since been fired for her actions. The controversial incident occurred while delivering multiple large packages for a customer named Karla De La Torre. The two women reportedly got into a verbal disagreement about the handling of the shipment. When Karla began speaking in Spanish, the former FedEx employee mockingly responded with gibberish before saying, "this is America," "kiss my White a*s," and "go back to your country." Little did the former FedEx worker know that Karla is a TikTok influencer with over 10 million followers. Karla uploaded the footage shortly after, and the incident became a national news story. In response, the former FedEx worker hopped on TikTok to explain her actions and to make amends.

“I ended up saying a racist comment, and I’m deeply sorry,” she said. “I wanna deeply apologize to Karla and her family because I shouldn’t have acted like that.” You can watch the apology here.

Upon the firing of the aforementioned FexEx worker, a spokesperson from FedEx Ground also issued an apology.

“This behavior is unacceptable and contrary to the professionalism demonstrated by service providers in safely and reliably delivering millions of packages every day."
