Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe are one of the most dynamic duos in sports television. Their hit debate show on FS1, Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, has further established Skip's legacy in sports media while launching Shannon into stardom as an on-air personality. Nevertheless, 2023 has gotten off to somewhat of a rocky start for the pair. Skip Bayless seemingly jeopardized his reputation, career, and working relationship with Shannon when he posted a tweet about Damar Hamlin's life-threatening injury during a Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills. Not to be outdone by his counterpart on television, Shannon took over the Twitterverse about three weeks later when he got into a heated verbal altercation with Dillon Brooks, several other Memphis Grizzlies players, and Ja Morant's father, Tee, while sitting courtside during the team's road game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The verbal spat reportedly started with an argument between Shannon and Dillon Brooks about LeBron James. Following the Laker's thrilling victory over the Grizzlies (122-121), Shannon made amends with Tee Morant before issuing an apology on Undisputed the following Monday. But that didn't stop the highly publicized moment from going viral and generating several hilarious memes on social media.

Shannon has remained loyal and steadfast in his vocal support of LeBron James as the GOAT of the NBA since Skip and Shannon: Undisputed debuted back in 2016. Stephen Jackson, a former contributor to the hit show, recently appeared as an interviewee on the I Am Athlete podcast to share his thoughts on a litany of topics, including Shannon's passionate fandom for all things LeBron. The former small forward for the Golden State Warriors warned Shannon to dial back his support of LBJ, stating that the love probably doesn't always go both.

"I love Shannon, I talk to him all the time," Jackson said. "[But] You gotta remember Unc, LeBron ain't gonna run up and fight nobody for you, keep that in mind...Bron could see Shannon at a restaurant get into a scuffle; if he's with his family, he ain't finna run over there. That's the last thing [LeBron would do]. Keep that in mind, Uncle Shay Shay.  LeBron is not going to fight for you. I know you love him, [but] it's not going to be reciprocated."
