Previously, it was reported that a 29-year-old Black motorist named Tyre Nichols was beaten by police officers in Memphis on January 10, resulting in his death three days later. Five police officers were charged with murder in relation to the tragic incident that people compared to the beating of Rodney King by police in 1991. Since then, Memphis Police have released the alarmingly graphic footage of officers beating the man.

Footage shows officers kicking Nichols in the face at least twice and hitting him with a baton at one point. Before the beating, Nichols was pulled out of his car and heard yelling, “I didn’t do anything!” When police started beating the motorist, he could be heard screaming for his mother.

Following beating Nichols, the officers proceeded to have a conversation with one another about what transpired while Nichols was laid out on the ground off to the side. Watch above.
